UDC to Host “Wood, Coal and Water: Three Essentials that Changed the River Valley” Nov. 6
NARROWSBURG – The Upper Delaware Council (UDC) will host a public presentation, “Wood, Coal and Water: Three Essentials that Changed the River Valley” by Glenn Pontier, on Thursday, November 6, at 6:30 p.m., at the UDC’s 211 Bridge St., Narrowsburg, NY office and virtually by Zoom.
Now retired, long-time local resident Glenn Pontier has been editor of The River Reporter and executive director of Sullivan Renaissance. He currently works as a docent at Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History, talking about 18th Century medicine.
The Sullivan County Democrat called Pontier “an endlessly creative thinker and community organizer.” He will share stories and anecdotes related to the Upper Delaware River Valley’s timber, coal, and water history.
The UDC’s monthly business meeting to follow may include reports from the Delaware River Basin Commission, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, National Park Service, and UDC Executive Director; discussion of old and new business; and public comments.
All UDC meetings are open to the public.
