NARROWSBURG – The Upper Delaware Council (UDC) announces the availability of an updated, free brochure, the “Visitor Information Map and Guide for Touring the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River: New York & Pennsylvania.”

A shipment of 35,000 copies has been received at the UDC’s office in Narrowsburg, NY to prepare for the kick-off of the 2013 visitor season.

Supplies of the popular brochure first published by the UDC in 1989 and last revised in 2008 had long
been depleted, but fell victim to budgetary restraints. The Council committed to publish a new version in 2013 as a public service to coincide with the non-profit organization’s 25th anniversary year. The four-color guide features a comprehensive, 17 x 22-inch fold-out map of the federally-designated Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River corridor stretching 73.4 miles from Hancock, NY to Mill Rift, PA and its surroundings, newly created with the assistance of Geographic Information System technicians at the
National Park Service.

Twelve informational panels offer tips on river safety, conservation, recreation, fishing, boating, camping, eagle watching, hunting, tourism, emergency phone numbers, directions, and agency contacts.
There is also a new chart of river accesses that identifies the amenities offered at each public area, and
numerous reminders that the majority of land in the Upper Delaware Valley is privately owned and should be treated with due respect.

Surrounding the map is a directory of businesses located within the river corridor boundaries. These
listings, provided as a public service, pertain to the visitor-oriented categories of Accommodations, Restaurants/Food, Liveries and Campgrounds, and Bait & Tackle Shops. “Eighteen businesses generously contributed a total of $925 to help the UDC to offset the printing costs,” said Executive Director Laurie Ramie. “We’re grateful for the support and the recognition that this brochure fills a void in the Upper Delaware for a bi-state, river-oriented brochure to benefit visitors to this unique region.”
