UDC Raft Trip Attracts 93

NARROWSBURG – The Upper Delaware Council’s (UDC) 25th Annual Family Raft Trip drew 93 individuals to the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River on August 4, fulfilling the UDC’s goal of promoting awareness and stewardship of the river through direct contact with the recreational resource.

Rafters launched Sunday’s river trip from the Ten Mile River Access south of Narrowsburg, NY and floated an eight-mile stretch downriver to Luke’s Landing at Kittatinny Campgrounds in Barryville, NY. Kittatinny Canoes provided the rafts, paddles, life vests, and shuttle transportation.

The turnout included 79 adults and teens, and 14 children ages 5-12 to take advantage of the livery’s discounted rates and the trip coordination provided by the UDC.

This year’s river raft trip will be complemented by a first-ever, land-based event by the UDC to further commemorate the non-profit organization’s 25th anniversary.

The “Strides Across the Delaware” 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, starting on PA State Road 1023 in Equinunk, PA, crossing the interstate bridge into Lordville, NY, and taking a short loop down the Town of Hancock’s Bouchouxville Road before returning to the staging area near the Equinunk United Methodist Church for an awards ceremony.

Earlybird registration at $15 by Sept. 15 includes a commemorative t-shirt, gift bag, professional timing services, and food and beverages provided by the Equinunk Watershed Alliance. Registrations after Sept. 15 will be $20.
