The 20^th Annual Zane Grey Festival to be held in Lackawaxen, PA

Beach Lake, PA — Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, in partnership with the Zane Grey’s West Society, will host the 20th Annual Zane Grey Festival on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Taking place on the grounds of the Zane Grey Museum in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, this free, family‑friendly event celebrates the life and legacy of Western novelist Zane Grey and offers a full day of programs, demonstrations and hands‑on activities for visitors of all ages.

The festival will feature:

• Pocono Wildlife will present Amazing Animal Adaptations highlighting live animals and birds from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
• Brookvalley Farms will provide horse-drawn wagon rides from 11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Douglas Adams, the great, great grandson of Buffalo Jones will present Jones & Grey: A Legacy of the American from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m.
• Fish and Feathers Intern Anika Natarjan will lead an interactive reading of a children’s story from 1 – 1:20 p.m.
• Fort Delaware Fife and Drum Corps will perform patriotic melodies in honor of America’s 250^th anniversary from 1:30 – 1:50 p.m.
• Chief Adam Waterbear, Tribal Storykeeper and Director of Education for the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania will present “The Lenape, the Environment, and the Delaware River” from 2:30 – 3:10 p.m.
• Local musician Dan Engvaldsen will perform folk music from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., 2 – 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 – 3:45 p.m.

Throughout the day, visitors can also enjoy demonstrations by Steamtown National Historic Site staff featuring the “Ring of Fire,” as well as demonstrations of primitive skills, weaving, 19th‑century woodworking and an 18th‑century printing press. Children can also enjoy craft activities and a scavenger hunt. The Wayne County Amateur Radio Club will host “National Parks on the Air,” and Honesdale National Bank will provide free popcorn.

Zane Grey’s legacy of literature and outdoor passion continues to inspire visitors to come to Lackawaxen. Guests are encouraged to explore his works at the festival’s Little Free Library and learn more about his connection to the Upper Delaware River. Local favorite Burger Shack will offer hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, french fries, macaroni and cheese, cold beverages and more. Cash will only be accepted, and an ATM is available nearby at Honesdale National Bank.
