Roebling Bridge Maintenance Work to Begin 9/11
Maintenance work on the National Historic Landmark Roebling Bridge (Roebling’s Delaware Aqueduct) will occur between September 11, 2017 and November 15, 2017 in order to repoint the New York abutment and landings at the start of the wooden towpaths and to repair the sidewalks. This work will require closing the Towpath Trail under the bridge and the New York parking lot throughout the construction period. All construction activities will be completed by November 15, 2017. The Pennsylvania parking area will remain open.
Sidewalk repair and repointing of the landings at the start of the wooden towpaths will require temporary closure of the upper towpaths. One walkway will remain open at all times for pedestrian use. Repairs to the sidewalks on the bridge deck will require occasional delays over a three-day period. Flaggers will direct vehicle traffic crossing the bridge during this phase of the project.
