2026 Upper Delaware Litter Sweep New Logo Designed by Jeff George

NARROWSBURG – Volunteers for the 6th Annual Upper Delaware Litter Sweep will sport a new t-shirt design with the theme of “Keeping Our Country Beautiful: America 250 Yrs.” that features a majestic heron carrying trash away to preserve our natural environment.

Jeff George, of Jeff George Design and Salvage company based in Honesdale, PA, donated this year’s artwork to the Upper Delaware Council (UDC), which is coordinating the series of land-based clean-ups to be organized throughout April in communities surrounding the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River in PA and NY.

The safety-colored shirts screen printed by Platform Industries have the UDC’s Land-Water-People slogan on the back and media sponsor WJFF Radio Catskill’s logo on the sleeve.

George’s drawing depicts a large bird commonly spotted along the banks of the Upper Delaware River surrounded by a riparian landscape.

“I love when I see a heron taking off with its impressive wingspan. It’s a real event,” he says.

The design also includes the America’s Semiquincentennial anniversary slogan in a vintage ribbon.

“I’ve spent time on and around rivers my whole life. That – and my dislike for trash – really made this design commission interesting to me,” says George, who also serves on the Lackawaxen River Trails Committee.

Originally from Mt. Upton, George moved to the Honesdale area in 1979, accepting a design position with Highlights for Children.

In 1997, he started Jeff George Design, a studio specializing in unique concepts for design, illustration, sculpture, and mural projects.

He’s also become known for designing and painting a number of large scale, site-specific murals, including being commissioned by the Greater Honesdale Partnership to create the multi-panel “Historic Honesdale” mural with fellow artist Pauline Glykokokalos in 2018; a “Welcome to Honesdale” mural along the Meagher Professional Building’s 1,700-foot wall; and a “Wayne County Grown” rural scene on the side of Here & Now Brewing Co., all located along the borough’s Main Street.
